In vielen Sendungen des Musikladens standen jeweils vier Oldies aus alten Beat-Club- bzw. Musikladen-Sendungen zur Auswahl, die zu Beginn der Sendung vorgestellt wurden.
Die Zuschauer konnten während der Sendung ihren Lieblingstitel telefonisch auswählen.
Der Titel mit den meisten Stimmen wurde in der Regel als vorletztes Stück gezeigt, der zweitplazierte Titel stand in der nächsten Sendung erneut zur Auswahl.
Einige Sendungen waren länger als 45 Minuten.
Bei den späteren Wiederholungen wurden diese gekürzt, meistens fiel dabei die Oldiewahl den Schnitten zum Opfer, gelegentlich auch andere Musiktitel, wie zum Beispiel bei den Folgen 71 und 75, die ursprünglich 60 Minuten lang waren.
Bei den wenigen halbstündigen Folgen wurden für die Wiederholungen sogar Titel hinzugefügt, um auf eine einheitliche Laufzeit von knapp 45 Minuten zu kommen.
