Die Sendung Extratour war der Nachfolger der Musikladens und brachte neben Live-Schaltungen zu Außenreportern auch wieder Auftritte von Kabarettisten sowie Cartoons wie der Musikladen in seiner Anfangszeit.
Die Cartoons wurden mit einem — auch in anderen Sendungen verwendeten und heute noch bekannten — Spruch angekündigt: »Achtung, jetzt kommt ein Karton!«.
Moderiert wurde die Sendung von Stefan Viering und Margarethe Schreinemakers.
