Der Beat-Club war die erste Musiksendung mit englischsprachigen Interpreten im deutschen Fernsehen.
Sie war speziell für Jugendliche konzipiert worden, wurde von Radio Bremen produziert und von 1965 bis 1972 ausgestrahlt.
Die Beat-Club-Ausgaben 1 bis 34 wurden von Radio Bremen allein produziert.
Ab Folge 35 bis Folge 74 war der Beat-Club eine Gemeinschaftssendung mit dem WDR, der jugendorientierte Einspielfilme beisteuerte.
Ab Folge 51 wurde der Beat-Club in Farbe ausgestrahlt und ab Folge 55 wurden keine Go-Go-Girls mehr eingesetzt.
Folge 125.09.1965Wilhelm Wieben kündigte die erste Sendung mit folgenden Worten an: »Guten Tag, liebe Beat-Freunde. Nun ist es endlich soweit. In wenigen Sekunden beginnt die erste Show im Deutschen Fernsehen, die nur für Euch gemacht ist. Sie aber, meine Damen und Herren, die Sie Beat-Musik nicht mögen, bitten wir um Ihr Verständnis: Es ist eine Live-Sendung mit jungen Leuten, für junge Leute. Und nun geht's los!«.
